There is nothingggg more insanely frustrating than being completely done with your own excuses and then watching yourself do the exact same thing again the next day.

🫠

Like what is HAPPENING?! You're not confused about what you want. You know. And yet the second it's time to show up for yourself, something in you just pulls the emergency brake.

So you make a new plan, but you just keep falling into the same trap.

And now you're not just stuck... you're stuck and you think something might actually be wrong with you, which, for the record, is its own special kind of hell.

Here's what I want to say to you: nothing is wrong with you. But something is going on underneath all of this.

And no amount of planning is going to touch it. We need to dig. And we're going to dig with 5 Ruthless Journal Prompts for When You're Tired of Your Own Shit.

🚨 Fair warning: these are not the cute little "what do you want and why" journal prompts. These are EXPOSING. So if you're not in the mood to have all of your greatest excuses questioned right now, close this and come back later.

But if you are ready? Let's go.

But watch this first so you understand how to get the most out of this:

The Prompts

To get the most out of this, do one prompt a day, and set a timer for twenty minutes.

The first ten minutes are a warmup. The second ten minutes are where the truths begin to reveal themselves.

And if you get stuck (which you will, because we all do) just keep the pen moving.

The point isn't to say something brilliant. The point is to stay in the room long enough for the truth to find you.

It always does, if you give it enough time.

Day 1

What if the version of you that is exhausted, stuck, and repeating these patterns isn't a problem to fix, but a role you've been playing so long you forgot you were acting? What does that character get to avoid by staying exactly where she is?

Think about…

The ways staying stuck has actually protected you. The relationships it hasn't threatened. The expectations it has kept manageable. The version of yourself you haven't had to become yet.

Day 2

What is the most terrifying thing that would happen if you actually became who you say you want to be?

Think about...

The relationships that might shift. The excuses that would disappear. The version of you that other people have gotten comfortable with and what happens to her.

Day 3

What belief about yourself are you still treating as a fact that you learned from someone who was wrong about you?

Think about…

The first time someone made you feel like your feelings were an inconvenience. Like your needs were a burden. Like the volume of your emotions, your sensitivity, and your intensity was something that needed to be turned down before you could be loved.

Day 4

Where in your life are you waiting for permission that no one is actually withholding except you? How is staying in the waiting room keeping you safe?

Think about…

The things you keep putting off. The ideas you've quietly talked yourself out of before anyone else even got the chance to weigh in. The dreams you've been calling dumb in your own head so nobody else has to.

Day 5

If the life you keep saying you want already exists and is waiting for you, what version of yourself would have to die for you to step into it?

Think about…

The version of you that would have to be retired. The identity you've built around the struggle. The person people know you as. The role that would have to end for the next chapter to begin.

Once you've sat with these, I'd really encourage you not to let this become another thing you write down and then file away somewhere in your heart never to be looked at again.
